Finding the Right People

One question we are asked frequently is "How can you be certain that you are finding the right people for sponsorship?"

This is a great question and one that's answer is fundamental to the success of Edtaf. We are well aware of the corruption in Kenya and the possibility of some Kenyans 'disappearing' off the Edtaf map after their education. Therefore Edtaf has partnered with a Kenyan organisation called 'Spur Afrika'.

The purpose of Spur Afrika is

to give hope to those individuals that have lost it and help them seek internships in the field they are interested in. Spur Afrika encourages the individuals to start projects in Kibera that will benefit the community.

We at Edtaf then highlight the best individuals and after a thorough interview process decide whether or not to sponsor them. This is on the basis of how well they have performed in Spur Afrika and how much their projects would benefit from them having a University education.

Where Your Money Goes

One very justifiable question that everyone wants the answer to is: "If I give you £10, what happens to that money?"

One thing that we pride ourselves at Edtaf is that we guarantee that every penny you donate goes directly to Kenya. We are keen to maintain 100% financial transparency. So, what happens to your donation of £10.

Firstly, if you have sent it as a Gift Aid donation then we start by claiming a further £2.80. Then your money is sent straight to Nairobi.

We ask the scholars to raise the money for additional costs (such as library membership and transportation) so that they maintain a sense of integrity and personal achievement in being at University.

Therefore, all the money that we receive goes completely to a university education - 100% of it!
