Linet Ambiyo
Linet is 25 years old and lives in Nairobi. After completing the application process for an Edtaf scholarship in February 2010, Linet start University in August 2010. Linet has a real heart for the young children of Kibera slum, which is where she was brought up. Linet is studying Early Childhood Development and Education at Kenyatta University on a two year diploma.
She hopes to use this degree to educate young children in Kibera. So many children believe they have no hope of ever leaving Kibera and plan to spend the rest of their lives in the slum. Therefore, learning English and computer skills are not a concern for them. However, Linet will not only be teaching them these skills but also changing their mindset to one where they have hope of a better future for themselves and their family.
A child's education must be prioritised from an early age for them to have the best chance of having a better future. Linet, armed with a University education, will ensure they are given the hope they need.
